Moderating tasks: need for new moderators ?

Heck, *I* didn't have that many when I became a mod! But that's probably a good baseline for today.
Pari/GP: this is the program I probably mentioned in my post. Windows users can get it at http://pari.math.u-bordeaux.fr/~bill/mingw/PARI-2-6.exe

Although there is no prescribed criterion for becoming a moderator, a certain number of conditions usually apply:

- Need for new moderators

- Quality and quantity of the contributions (there's no point giving moderating rights to someone who is never around, except for honorary moderators of course :))

- Co-opting factor: moderators are often naturally proposed by the moderators' community

- Trust factor: some good old gut feeling :)

And since this forum is apolitical, I guess nobody will reproach me for the lack of democracy in the appointment process :)

From what i feel is like , to become moderators

1) online around
2) good in maths (else how to contribute)
3) mannered

*assume when this forum started , there is no members around and open all threads to guests , if mod / admin no good , would guests even consider joining?
(disregarding those that join for fun , or join for nothing)

even tho apolitical , but these 3 seems like its in the run.
