Thanks for the reply I'm a mature student (25 years old) and have just completed a Degree in Music Technology I've recently became quite obsessed with mathematics (especially with the way it appears in nature, and acoustics). At the moment I have gone back to college to study maths. I am taking C1, C2 and M1 and have an exam in January. Most of the learning has been home based and I am just trying to get more confident in the subjects to study as my teacher said my exam for C1 is in January. I have quite a lot to study and get to grips before then. I've bought the edexcel books for the core modules but feel that they do not provide adequate information that's why I was thinking about the other Bostock book as I already own the older version I was wondering if there was any differences in the newer edition or if you could recommend an other book that would prove helpful for some like me.
Last time I properly studied math was 10 years ago for GSCE and I've found that going back through old GSCE books has been useless. As AS level is totally different. Quite confident with factorisation, combining terms, some quadratics and linear equations but other subjects I haven't touched upon. I found Peter Selby's book Practical Algebra quite good but misses a lot of detail out.
Hopefully grades permitting I would progress onto C3,C4 and M2 and would love to study further math as it is such a fascinating subject. Just wish I studied it sooner as I'm getting older each day ha.
Thanks once again and sorry for the long post.
