### Math Symbols for p-hat and x-bar?

I am doing a hypothesis test for a Stats class, and I have to know how to type p-hat and x-bar...I've tried MathType, but it doesn't have those symbols. Any help?

### Re: Math Symbols for p-hat and x-bar?

In MS Word use Field Codes Alt + F9

p-hat p̂ , type: EQ \O(p,̂) within the curly braces : {EQ \O(p,̂)}
the caret or hat is made by typing : Alt + 770, use the number key pad for the 770.

x-bar: type: EQ \O(x,¯) within the field code curly braces: {EQ \O(x,¯)}

Type Alt + F9 to display the characters instead of the Field Codes.

Using MathType:

$\begin{array}{l} {\hat p} \\ {\bar x} \\ \end{array}$

I got a better result by adding "\s" to superscript the caret.

EQ \O(X,\s\up2(ˆ))

Also, if you are using mac OS X like me, the alt command won't work. Instead, just use the menu Insert -> Field..., and then to edit inline, right click and select "Toggle Field Codes". But (of course) whenever possible, save your time & happiness and use LaTeX.
